You just received your rented agency account. It has no spending limit, the card is attached, and your pixel is connected. The temptation is to launch everything at full budget. Don't. A short, deliberate warm-up makes the account more stable and helps your campaigns exit the learning phase faster.

This is the exact warm-up plan we give clients after facebook ads account rental setup.

Why warm-up still matters

An agency account starts with far more trust than a new personal account, thanks to the parent Business Manager's history. But the account is still new to your pixel, your domain and your creatives. Meta's systems watch how these new combinations behave.

Warming up does three things:

  1. Establishes a normal spending pattern instead of a sudden spike.
  2. Builds positive engagement signals on the ad account and your ads.
  3. Gives the algorithm clean conversion data before you scale.

The cost is small: a few days at lower budgets. The benefit is an account that scales smoothly instead of hitting reviews and restrictions at the worst time.

Before you launch: the pre-flight checklist

Do these before spending a single dollar:

  • Two-factor authentication on every profile with access.
  • Pixel connected and firing PageView and your main conversion event. Test with the Test Events tool.
  • Conversions API sending the same events with matching event IDs. See our Pixel + CAPI setup guide.
  • Domain verified in the Business Manager that owns the pixel.
  • Landing page checked: privacy policy, terms, contact details, fast mobile load.
  • Facebook page ready: profile picture, cover, a few posts, and a complete About section.
  • Account time zone and currency confirmed — these can't be changed later.

The 7-day warm-up plan

Day 1: Launch small and clean

  • One campaign, one or two ad sets, two or three ads.
  • Budget: 10–20% of target daily spend (minimum around $100).
  • Use your most proven, most compliant creative.
  • Broad or lightly defined targeting.

Don't touch anything for 24 hours after launch.

Day 2: Observe, don't tinker

  • Check that ads are approved and delivering.
  • Look at Account Quality for any warnings.
  • Confirm conversions are showing in both Ads Manager and your backend.

Resist the urge to edit. Every significant edit restarts learning.

Day 3: First budget increase

  • If ads are delivering normally, increase budget by 25–30%.
  • Add one more ad set with a second proven creative.

Day 4: Add a testing campaign

  • Launch a small ABO testing campaign with 2–3 new creatives at a low budget.
  • Keep the main campaign running untouched.

Day 5: Second increase

  • Increase the main campaign by another 25–30% if CPA is within range.
  • Pause any test ads with clearly poor results.

Day 6: Introduce your scaling structure

  • Launch your CBO or Advantage+ campaign with the winners.
  • Keep total daily budget increases to about 30% per 48 hours.

Day 7: Review and plan the scale

  • Total spend is now typically 40–60% of your target daily budget.
  • Review CPA, conversion rate and Account Quality.
  • If everything is stable, continue with the scaling rules in our guide to scaling to $10k/day.

Mistakes that ruin warm-ups

  • Launching 20 ads at once. It looks unusual and gives the algorithm too little data per ad.
  • Running your riskiest creative first. Save borderline angles for when the account has history — or better, rethink them.
  • Pointing ads at a new, empty domain. A domain that has never received traffic is a weak signal.
  • Changing payment or time zone settings. Stick with what the provider set up.
  • Adding lots of new admins on day one. Add team members gradually.
  • Logging in from many locations. Keep access consistent.

What if something goes wrong during warm-up?

An ad is rejected: read the reason, fix the creative, and either request review or publish a corrected version. Don't publish the same ad repeatedly.

Delivery is very slow: give it 24–48 hours. Slow early delivery is normal on new accounts and pixels.

The account is restricted: contact your provider immediately. With HD Agency, a replacement account is issued, usually within minutes, and connected to the same pixel. Then look for the cause — often it's a creative or landing page issue that would affect the replacement too. Our article on why accounts keep getting banned covers the usual suspects.

Warm-up for replacement accounts

When a replacement is issued, you don't need the full 7-day plan. Your pixel and page already have history. A compressed 2–3 day ramp is enough:

  • Day 1: 30–40% of previous spend with proven ads.
  • Day 2: 60–70% if delivery is healthy.
  • Day 3: back to full budget.

Signals that the warm-up is working

You'll know the account is ready to scale when:

  • Ads are approved quickly, usually within minutes to a few hours.
  • Delivery is steady through the day rather than in bursts.
  • CPA is stabilizing within about 20% of your target.
  • Account Quality shows no warnings.
  • Conversions match between Ads Manager and your backend, within normal attribution differences.

If any of these are off after day 7, extend the warm-up by a few days rather than pushing budgets.

Warm-up for lead generation accounts

Lead-gen accounts follow the same principles with a few differences. Start with your highest-intent form or landing page, not the cheapest-lead variant — early lead quality influences who the algorithm targets next. Send the Lead event from your server through Conversions API, and if possible feed back qualified-lead events so optimization improves over time.

Warm-up for app and SaaS advertisers

For app install and SaaS trial campaigns, start with your strongest market and a single optimization event. Mobile apps should verify the SDK or App Events API is sending installs and key in-app events before launch. SaaS advertisers should send trial signups through Conversions API with hashed email, which usually lifts match quality significantly. Once the first optimization event is stable for several days, you can add deeper events, such as purchases or qualified trials, as secondary goals.

Final thoughts

A week of patience at the start saves weeks of problems later. Warm up with proven, compliant creatives, ramp budgets steadily, and let the data build before you push. Rented agency accounts give you the headroom to scale fast — warming up makes sure you can use it.

Frequently asked questions

Do agency accounts need warming up?

They need less than a brand-new personal account because they inherit trust from the parent Business Manager. A short ramp of 5–7 days still helps performance and reduces risk.

How much should I spend on day one?

Start at 10–20% of your target daily budget, with a minimum of about $100 so campaigns can gather data.

What should my first ads be?

Your most compliant, proven creatives, sent to a clean landing page. Save aggressive tests for when the account has history.
